The Old Lion by Kristian

Behind a classic Victorian facade, an embodiment of the previous Lion brewery, stood The “Old Lion” is much more than just a pretty face. We were welcomed warmly, by live music, as we escaped the cold on a treacherous winter’s night. Close family and friends as we take it easy around the bar, and escaped the dilemmas of the day.

An oasis behind two glass doors the elegant restaurant fit for the King (of the jungle).

The service we received was attentive without being intrusive, guided to our table. Drinks promptly served and all queries about the food were answered fully and patiently

Our minds pondered every word as we deliberated over the five-star menu, hard to settle on just one option when all stimulate our imagination with such culinary delight.

Our Entree of a dozen luxurious Coffin Bay Oysters six Lion and six Kilpatrick the perfect enticement for dinner ahead.

I was more than delighted by my decision of mains as I enjoyed The Rotisserie Roasted Murray Pork Rack, With Black Vinegar, Coconut Yoghurt, Sambal Belacan and Kimich Cabbage; accompanied by the exclusive Kangaroo Island Spirits Gin. Another perfect recommendation.

It was now time for dessert, I simply could not resist the Banana Macadamia Spring Rolls with Hazelnut and Butterscotch, going quintessentially with a lovely aromatic coffee, a perfect final touch to a wonderful meal.

I look forward to visiting the “Old Lion” again soon an experience unlike any other.
